Column purification, through adsorption or exchange, is a key process for the extraction of impurities on valuable chemicals. The adsorbents can be from various origins (synthetic polymers or carbonaceous material). They are commonly used to purify biofuels or to recover antibiotics, plant extracts, proteins...
Van der Waals forces, steric interaction, hydrogen bonds, hydrophobicity and polarity are several mechanisms which cause adsorption. Since the solution to be treated contains a mixture of organics with different properties, the adsorption process is a combination of these mechanisms.
BIONET team has the experience, in design, construction and operation of column purification processes for bioenergy, biotech and food sectors, needed to provide our clients with the right solution.
We also have experience in process development and pilot plant construction and operation.
